Although never released as a single, the song became popular throughout Europe as a tribute to singer Britney Spears. At the time of the song's recording in 2002, Britney Spears was famously dating Justin Timberlake, of boy band 'N Sync. "It's Gonna Be Me ('N Sync song)" was the name of an 'N Sync single from their "No Strings Attached ('N Sync album)'' album, released in 2000. Another lyric from the song, "God must have spent a little more time on you", refers to a track of that title on 'N Sync's debut album, ''*NSYNC (album)".

The word "me" is sung in an off-beat style commonly associated with Spears, particularly in her 2002 single "Overprotected".

Busted's 2004 single Air Hostess is also often thought to refer to Britney Spears, who had appeared in the uniform of a flight attendant in the video for her single "Toxic (song)" earlier in the year.

Promotion

Even though this song wasn't released as a single, it was such a success that Busted promoted it very well performing it on all their tours. The song was on their live DVD A Ticket For Everyone. Besides, they also performed "Britney" on CD:UK while on the big screen behind them several Britney Spears pics were shown.

On September 14, pop singer reportedly gave birth to a baby boy through . Spears and husband issued a statement on their website confirming the birth later in the week, saying the following: "We are ecstatic to announce the birth of our son! Everyone is happy, healthy and doing wonderful. Thank you for all your love and well wishes!!". Spears reportedly gave birth through a Cesarean section due to the fact she did not want to experience the regular pain encountered during child birth. She has been met with some criticism by her fans in wake of this report. The birth of the boy, whose birth name is disputed among different sources, is considered very important in the entertainment world. Analysts say his first photo could be sold by his parents for upwards of US$1,000,000.
